God has a heart of mission and it’s so important we understand the spirit of mission and that He has called us to a life of mission.
Yes, all of us, not just a select few. This is a call for everyone.
This Autumn, we want to invite you to join a really important conversation; a missional conversation.

A God of Mission
Over these last few years, we have seen moments when there are outpourings of emotion, concern and compassion that move society to reach out to those caught up in the sudden change of circumstances. There is a basic instinct of humanity that responds to one another in a time of need, whether its comfort in a moment of grief, to financially support or offer care in some other way. The heart to see what’s happening around us and respond comes straight from the heart of God.
In fact, God himself moved towards us, by sending His son Jesus and in doing so, personally revealed His character and nature and extending His grace and forgiveness towards us. It was God who took the initiative and made the first move.
He is a God of mission. In fact, one commentator says, “God only had one son and He made Him a missionary”.
God has a heart of mission and it’s so important we understand the spirit of mission and that He has called us to a life of mission. Yes, all of us, not just a select few. This is a call for everyone.
Jesus called ordinary men and women to join him in the adventure and the challenge of mission and reaching others with the good news of Jesus – living their lives according to the pattern He gives us and placing His Kingdom first.
As we at LGCC step into our own historic moment – 100 years since it was planted as a church in an environment of mission – I believe He is still calling ordinary people, in all kinds of places, from all kinds of backgrounds to live as people on – and with a – mission, wherever we are placed. There is an invitation to each one of us to be part of that journey, to step up, to be a missionary into our communities and environments.
This Autumn, we want to invite you to join a really important conversation; a missional conversation.
LGCC Hub Conversation will be an environments to dream about what could be as we think and pray about the communities that God has placed you in, and how we can be a people on mission within them.
On Sunday 27th November, from 4pm – 5:30pm, we will take time to dream and pray together, about what mission looks like for you and for us together, sharing food as we do so.
To be a church on mission, we must be people on mission. Jesus has promised to enable us to be his missionaries and we sense this is a moment, at the beginning of a new centenary for us to receive a fresh heart for mission. God is looking for mission-hearted and mission-focussed people who dare to dream.
How will you respond?
-
History tells a story and we’re thankful for our story, for what the Lord has done, His faithfulness and goodness. As we embrace the future we do so in full view of our history. We believe there is a big, bold and exciting future for LGCC as we step into a new century as a church and we step into it faith filled for all that He has in store.
-
LGCC was birthed in an atmosphere of mission, and we believe that the first year of a new century requires mission hearted people. Mission is at the core of our faith and it’s at the core of LGCC as we embrace and step into our future. We believe God is calling us towards greater levels of mission.

We believe our centenary is the perfect time to clear all debt and release funds for fresh missional opportunities. In 2015, the LGCC leadership had a vision to bring us into a bigger home to host what God wanted to do – we honour their faith. With that faith came a debt on the building which started at 1.5 million and now £300,000 remains and it’s to clear it. Imagine what we could do if we released £100,000 per year of loan repayments from our expenditure?
