2023 will be a year of celebration as we mark this historic moment of 100 years at LGCC.
The birth of Letchworth Garden City Church, then known as Elim Letchworth in 1923 was extraordinary. It could hardly have been a less promising time as the nation was feeling the full horrors of the First World War. Yet, in the backdrop of this crusades led by Evangelist and Elim founder, George Jeffrey’s and local man Hubert C Phillips paved the way for Elim in Letchworth.
We would love you to come and be a part of it.

History tells a story and we’re thankful for our story, for what the Lord has done, His faithfulness and goodness. As we embrace the future we do so in full view of our history. We believe there is a big, bold and exciting future for LGCC as we step into a new century as a church and we step into it faith filled for all that He has in store.
-
LGCC was birthed in an atmosphere of mission, and we believe that the first year of a new century requires mission hearted people. Mission is at the core of our faith and it’s at the core of LGCC as we embrace and step into our future. We believe God is calling us towards greater levels of mission.
-
We believe our centenary is the perfect time to clear all debt and release funds for fresh missional opportunities. In 2015, the LGCC leadership had a vision to bring us into a bigger home to host what God wanted to do – we honour their faith. With that faith came a debt on the building which started at 1.5 million and now £300,000 remains and it’s to clear it. Imagine what we could do if we released £100,000 per year of loan repayments from our expenditure?
