Easter Weekend and Staff Changes
Hey Church,
I hope this message finds you well and encouraged, particularly as restrictions begin to lift over the coming days and months.
It has certainly felt like a long 12 months and I recognise that for some this period has been particularly challenging. As a Staff and Leadership Team we have been earnestly praying for you all, and we cannot wait to see you face to face sometime soon.
I’m writing with details of our Easter Weekend, and also to make you aware of some exciting changes that are happening with our staff team.
Easter
The Easter weekend is a significant time in the life of a Jesus follower as we celebrate the life, death and resurrection of our Saviour - and we cannot wait to celebrate it with you. It’s also the first weekend where many of us will be able to meet up with others (outside of course) and I know Dani and I can’t wait to see our own friends and family. As it is Easter weekend, we wanted to make sure there was plenty of space at our Sunday services for those who want to attend in person, and while we are committed to remaining online, we know that gathering with other believers in person is so valuable - and none more so than over Easter.
With that in mind we will be having two in-person services on Easter Sunday, at 9:15am and 11:15am.
While you may not feel ready to return to an in-person service, we wanted to create the space for those who want to come. At present, we are not committing ourselves to multiple services beyond Easter as we think many are still easing their way back to regathering - and with restrictions still in place for social distancing, singing and face coverings, that may take some time. To assist our planning we will soon invite you to complete a short survey, which will help us gauge how people are feeling about regathering.
As usual, we ask that you book a seat for our services by visiting our What’s On page. On Easter Sunday we will livestream the 11.15am service as usual.
Prior to Easter Sunday we will have a Good Friday service at 10am, but this will be online only.
Really Good News!
We believe the Easter message contains some very good news and often many of us don’t know how to share that news with our neighbours, friends and families. As part of our Easter Weekend, we have recorded a magazine show called “Really Good News”, which we filmed ‘on location’ at Esquires Coffee Shop in Letchworth. You can watch a teaser below, and the show itself premieres on YouTube; Easter Sunday at 4pm and 6pm, and again at 8pm.
Of course, we all know that good news is best when shared, and this is where we need your help. This show is aimed at those who are exploring faith, are new to faith or who have no experience of a faith at all - and we’d like you to invite people to watch it. We will be posting about the show on our social media pages, which you can easily share with others. Alternatively, if you would like some paper flyers to post through letterboxes, you can collect some from the church building (either on Sunday, or during office hours).
Staff Developments
Since the turn of the year we have been looking at our Staff Resource; thinking and praying about how we best serve the work and ministry of Letchworth Garden City Church and our wider community. We are delighted to let you know that after four years of serving as our Kids Pastor, my wife Dani will be stepping into a new role focussing on Community and Teams. She has been fulfilling duties within this role for some time, but our Leadership Team felt it was right to fully and formally release her into this new and exciting role.
In other exciting news, we are delighted to let you know that Charlene Anderson has been appointed as our new Limitless Kids Leader. Charlene has been part of LGCC for ten years has served on the kids team for much of that time. Charlene will begin this new role on Monday 12th April.
I know with confidence that you will be praying for both Dani and Charlene as they step into these new roles, and as a church family we will pray for, and commission them, on Sunday 11th April as part of our service.
Please remember clocks go forward this weekend!
